Chain-O-Lakes State Park, Indiana
Canoeing the Lakes and Channels
Hills appear to separate these kettle lakes, but there are narrow connecting channels (somewhat obscured by woods and expanses of lily pads). The lakes are all at about the same level, so currents are nearly imperceptible. It's easy to spend hours exploring the chain of lakes by canoe in any direction, quietly gliding through the forest in company with turtles and dragonflies, then paddling back to the same park boathouse you embarked from.
