Chain-O-Lakes State Park, Indiana
Canoeing the Lakes and Channels
Hills appear to separate these kettle lakes, but the woods and expanses of lily pads hide narrow connecting channels. The lakes are all at about the same level, so currents are nearly imperceptible in those channels. It's easy to spend hours exploring the chain of lakes by canoe in any direction you wish, quietly gliding through the forest in company with turtles and dragonflies, then paddle back to the same park boathouse you embarked from!
