Ohio Caverns
Lots to Explore Underground
As a regionally-known commercial cave, this was a wonderful surprise to us in its scale and unusual features. Its several straight, crisscrossing passages amount to about a mile in length, many being quite narrow with an odd keyhole shape. Stalactites of calcite and rust contrast in red-brown and pure white, and wall coatings of metal oxides and carbon add tan, black, and orange to the spectrum. Cave tours are offered year-round. In summer there are two hour-long tours available, the Natural Wonders one showing the widest variety of cave decorations and passages.
